Pétanque in Paris

Every year since 2011, the Vacqueyras appellation has held a promotional event known as "Pétanque in Paris". This event, which takes place at the end of June, includes a pétanque competition as well as a tasting of Vacqueyras wines and a good meal. Members of the Paris wine trade (wine merchants, restaurateurs and journalists) are invited to join the Vacqueyras wine producers for a day of competition and fun. This enables the Vacqueryas wine companies and producers to get together with their customers and prospects in a relaxed and slightly offbeat environment.

This event is a treat-filled weekend of discovery and celebration in
the village streets.

A fun, country festival
With tastings of wines and local produce, a traditional Mass, a parade, folk groups and
a village dance…, the Vacqueyras Wine Festival is the opportunity for you to enjoy a bit of fun in a Provençal atmosphere.
Highlights of the weekend include :
● “Vins & Gourmandises” (Wine & Delicacies) Evening – 13 July from 8:30 pm
Come along and try various artisan produce (foie gras, Ventoux truffles, oysters, ravioli,
etc.) accompanied by Vacqueyras wines and followed by a concert.
● Country Lunch - 14 July at 12:30 pm
Enjoy provençal dishes and Vacqueyras wines, seated under the plane trees, with music and dancing.

The Vacqueyras Wine Festival is a unique opportunity to discover the diversity of the appellation’s wines and meet the wine producers, in a festive atmosphere.

The Festival of Avignon

The Vacqueyras appellation has been the official wine of the Festival of Avignon since 1998.
This sponsorship highlights the important city of historical culture that is Avignon and the important land of viticulture that is our appellation.
Each year, as part of this sponsorship, a jury of professionals (sommeliers, winemakers, restaurateurs, journalists), along with the Festival’s teams and partners, select a red, rosé and white wine to be Vacqueyras’ ambassadors at this event. The selected wines don the Festival’s identity for the occasion, with packaging that reflects the Festival’s poster design combined with the specific labels of each domaine. These wines are used as gifts for guests, artists, actors and directors, and are available for sale in Avignon wine stores and wine bars.

Press Tasting

For several years now, our appellation has been the appellation to visit for top French and international wine journalists.
We have hosted visits from well known writers such Jancis Robinson (Financial Times), Jeb Dunnuck (Wine Advocate), Roberto Petronio (RVF), James Lawther and John Livingstone (Decanter), Antoine Petrus (Grand Guide des Vins de France), and Josh Raynolds (Wine Cellar).
These regular tasting visits have helped make our appellation one of the most well known Rhône Valley cru.

Wine Competition

Created in 1987, this official competition is open to all Côtes du Rhône appellations (crus, villages, generics) and those from the Die region. The members of the jury are not from the wine trade - it is made up of members of the general public who love wine.

This day, filled with fun and discovery, will include wine tasting courses run by the Suze la Rousse Université du Vin (Wine University), rides through the vineyards on a tourist train, and country and gourmet food. Renowned professionals will present their craft and their products at the ATELIERS des SAVEURS (flavours workshops), taking place in the local wineries and domaines. Coffees, chocolates, Indian and Asian cuisine, spices, cheeses, olives, olive oils, Provençal specialties, teas from Taiwan, and summer truffles are some of the themes of the workshops, which will tantalize palates and delight lovers of good food. Younger visitors (3-12 years) are not forgotten as they can enjoy a special full-day programme based on organic products held at the L’OISELET educational farm in Sarrians. Parents can take part in the tasting and flavours workshops, without having to worry about the children being bored ! The competition is held each year, on the second weekend of June.

Wine growers trail

Created by the appellation’s wine growers and négociants (traders), the Vacqueyras vineyard trail is an invitation for you to explore an exceptional heritage.
Over this three hour circuit (8 kilometres of easy walking), you will learn about the importance of climate, terroir and grape varieties, as well as the skill and work of men and women, when it comes to producing a great wine. 15 bilingual (French and English) information boards and a landscape interpretation table made of enamelled lava stone, illustrated with photos and full colour images, reveal all the secrets of this unique terroir, patiently shaped over the years by generations of dedicated wine growers.
